Looking for financial support for college? There are two great opportunities just for AFSCME members.

AFSCME Family Scholarship Program

Each year the AFSCME Family Scholarship Program provides ten $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors that will be renewed for $2,000 each year for a maximum of four years, provided the student remains enrolled in a full-time course of study. The scholarship may be used for any field of study.

The deadline to apply for the 2022 AFSCME Family Scholarship is December 31, 2021.

Are You Eligible?

To be eligible, you must:

  • At the time of application, be a graduating high school senior whose parent, legal guardian or financially responsible grandparent is a full dues-paying AFSCME member;
  • At the time the scholarship is awarded, be enrolled in a full-time degree program either at an accredited four-year institution or at a two-year institution that will transfer credits to a four-year institution; and
  • For 2022, AFSCME has adopted a test-optional policy. Applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, but the selection committee may consider them.
  • Return complete application with all required documentation postmarked by the December 31 deadline.

AFSCME 2067 Scholarship Program

AFSCME Local 2067 awards four $2,000 scholarships each year.

Requirements:

  • Eligible members of Oregon AFSCME Local 2067 and their dependents, grandchildren, and spouses
  • Qualifying members must have been active in AFSCME Local 2067 one+ year as of the March scholarship deadline
  • Residence (state): Oregon residency not required
  • GPA: 2.50+
  • FAFSA: Required - financial need may or may not be considered
  • Apply-compete annually, may be received for a maximum of 4 years.
  • Submit an essay describing the history of AFSCME in 150 words or less.
